Sheeba Narikuzhy
Ajax, ON, Canada
I have over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and their families and adults with major mental health challenges. My journey in the mental health field began when I attended University of Calicut (India) for bachelor’s in nursing. Recognizing my passion for mental health, I pursued my studies in Psychology and obtained my master’s degree in Psychology at the University of Annamalai in India. Since then, I moved to Toronto where I kick-started my career as an individual and family therapist at East Metro Youth Services (EMYS). After several years at EMYS, I moved into various managerial roles ranging from clinical supervisor, clinical manager, and eventually a clinical director at Youthdale Treatment Centers in Toronto. In addition to my work at EMYS and Youthdale, I have worked in the adult inpatient psychiatry/eating disorders unit at University Health Network and inpatient psychiatry unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. My diverse work experience fostered my passion in suicide prevention and promotion of mental health services in diverse communities. As such, I have been involved in various provincial and national level organizations such as the Mental Health Commission of Canada (advisory council member-2013-2019) and the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (Board Director 2017-2023). I have been involved in a few CAMH research projects focusing on culturally adapting CBT for East and South Asian populations.
My approach: I use a strength -based, trauma informed, client centred and culturally sensitive approach. Therapy is tailored to the unique needs, strengths and circumstances of individual clients. I believe that everyone has their own inherent capabilities and strengths. I work collaboratively with individuals to use their own inner strengths for enhancing their functioning, optimizing their hope and reaching their goals. I primarily use CBT & DBT strategies; however, I incorporate various other therapeutic models and techniques (such as ACT, solution focused, brief, narrative and family therapy) as relevant to the needs of the individuals. A good therapeutic relationship is essential for the success of therapy. Building and maintaining a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients is a focus throughout the therapeutic process. Some of the common mental health challenges that I have mostly worked with include generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, panic disorder, depression, suicidality, borderline personality disorder, trauma, eating disorders, school/ work related problems and relational challenges.

Jackson AINE
Ottawa, ON, Canada
I'm Jackson AINE. I believe that everyone is born to fulfill a mission in life. Mine is to assist others in their sufferings (psychological and spiritual). It was this vision that led me to study at the School of Psychotherapy, Counselling and Spirituality. I have hope for a better world with a culture of love, peace and fraternity that will give birth to beautiful and caring human relationships.
In my practice, I use the person-centered approach where my clients feel welcomed, safe, without judging, with love, caring, and an unconditional positive outlook. I also integrate the cognitive-behavioural approach, which is a client-centred approach: their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. People learn how to change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours using proven techniques to help achieve specific goals. For group therapy, I work with the systemic-interactional approach to facilitate communication between the person and his or her entourage or family members. It also helps to modify relationships, to have a healthier and more harmonious relationship life between the person and his or her entourage.
With Afro-descendant clients, I use the Africentric approach which is an Africentric perspective of therapy and therapeutic techniques. This innovative approach provides an understanding of Black clients in mental health care. She helps these clients understand themselves and recover from their racial trauma.

Anousha Rohani

Embarking on the journey of self-discovery is, in my view, one of the most courageous endeavors an individual can undertake. Through a rich tapestry of experiences garnered during my studies, work, and volunteer engagements in diverse settings such as Iran, Turkey, and here in Canada, I have cultivated a profound understanding of my own narrative. These varied experiences have not only enriched my personal growth but have also significantly contributed to my professional education.
In my capacity as a psychotherapist, I have had the privilege of working cross-culturally with a diverse clientele, addressing an array of issues encompassing stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relationship complexities, personality disorders, life transitions, and a spectrum of psychological challenges.
This expansive journey has not only broadened my cultural competence but has also shaped my therapeutic approach to be inclusive, compassionate, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. I view therapy as an intimate conversation—a shared space where individuals can explore the intricate facets of their lives.
