About Me
As an eldest daughter in a Pakistani Muslim immigrant household, I understand and empathize with the struggles of balancing the expectations of religion and the different cultures. Although each person has different and unique circumstances and situations. Having some similarities with a therapist can be helpful and also make it easier to take that first step into entering therapy. I provide a non judgmental, strength based, collaborative trauma informed approach to help individuals achieve their goals. I encourage discussions about emotions, and help clients to challenge their perspectives, while also remaining practical and solution-focused when required. I believe in the importance of connection and the need for a safe space. I approach each client with warmth and compassion allowing them to feel safe enough to be vulnerable. I understand that asking for help is difficult so I want to be there for you to make the process easier, and walk alongside you as you take this journey towards health and contentment. I have a variety of experience working with individuals from various backgrounds. I have experience in supporting individuals with concerns such as depression, anxiety, self- esteem, stress, coping with transitions as well as navigating the mental health system and connecting with resources in the community. I continue to take professional development courses to enhance my learning and stay up to date in the developing changes that are occurring in the profession. My recent courses in CBT have helped me get a better and deeper understanding of this modality which will help me better support my clients. I am also taking a complex post traumatic stress disorder course which is helping me get a better understanding of the impact of trauma and its effect on individuals lives and the therapeutic relationship. I specialize in helping with Mental health and addictions, youth (12 and up) individuals involved with the criminal justice system and those who have been in a motor vehicle accident.
