About Me

Hi, I’m Spencer Nageleisen (he/him)! When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll find me cooking up a storm in the kitchen, spending time with my partner, out on a walk listening to a podcast, watching TV or reading.

My journey into psychology began with a captivating high school class, igniting a passion for understanding human behavior. Graduating from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Science in psychology laid the groundwork for my professional path. In my early twenties, I confronted a sense of stagnation and sought clarity on living authentically. Therapy became my lifeline, guiding me towards personal liberation. Inspired by this transformative experience, I pursued a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and became a registered psychotherapist. Now, I specialize in supporting both youth and adults through various life challenges.

Through my own personal (as a queer man) and professional experiences with therapy, my practice centers on anti-oppression principles and is explicitly affirming of queer identities. I have experience working with diverse youth and adults on a variety of issues. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and LGBTQ2SIA+ affirming. I strive to provide open, empathic and non-judgemental support and I welcome individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities. My experiences working with marginalized populations has provided me with the drive and desire to recognize individual strengths, opportunities for post-traumatic growth and seek social justice action. I recognize that many individuals may face systemic socioeconomic barriers to care and will seek to find opportunities to improve access to care.

Allow me to accompany you with empathy and compassion as you overcome the “stuckness” in your life. I want to help you to achieve fullness of life, purpose and meaning. Together we can explore what it means for you to begin to live your truth, whatever that may entail.
